Welock The difference between a regular password and a temporary password

There are two types of passwords available in the Welock App: regular passwords and temporary passwords. Here’s what you need to know about each type:

We offer two types of regular passwords that are set up differently.

Firstly, we have the regular password that is set up directly on the smart lock. This type of password allows you to set up to 10 passwords, with one being the administrator password that can only be modified on the lock. The maximum length of the password is 12 digits, but most people prefer to set up a 6-digit password. There is no time limit for this type of password.

Secondly, we have the regular password that is set up on our Welock App. With this type of password, you can set up to 10 non-administrator passwords, with a maximum length of 6 digits. You can also set up an effective time period for the password. To set up this type of password, you will need to connect your smartphone to the smart lock via Bluetooth or purchase and use our Wi-Fi Box gateway.

Temporary passwords: There is no limit to the number of temporary passwords you can create, and you can also set the validity period for each password. To set a temporary password, all you need is an internet connection on your phone via the Welock App. Temporary passwords are 10 digits long and cannot be deleted individually.

Regular passwords are ideal for situations where you need to give someone access to your home or office for an extended period. For example, if you are a landlord, you can set a regular password with a validity period for your tenant to use during their stay.

Temporary passwords are perfect for situations where you need to give someone access to your home or office for a short period. For instance, if you are not at home and need to grant access to a delivery person, you can generate a temporary password with a validity period of 15 minutes and send it to them remotely via the Welock App. You do not need to purchase a gateway to generate temporary passwords remotely.

 When setting up a password on the app, please ensure that the time on the smart lock is accurate. You can do this by clicking the “Sync time” button on the Welock App.
